A weak disturbance in the upper atmosphere is going to bring increasing clouds to our region tonight so Thursday most likely will get off to a cloudy start. I expect those clouds to break up in the afternoon allowing for some sunshine and this coupled with a southwest wind should send temperatures into the low and mid 30s. A cold front will move through our region Friday kicking off a few rain or snow showers and also introducing colder air that is going to stick around for the weekend. It appears the front will stall just to our south with areas of low pressure forming on it and this promises to make for some messy weather in our neck of the woods. The scenario is not a good one with cold air trapped in the lower layers of the atmosphere and warm air moving in aloft. This should result in occasional light sleet or freezing rain on Saturday and possibly prolonged period of freezing rain Saturday night into Sunday. Not a pretty picture. At this point it is impossible to predict precipitation amounts but I have to say that the potential exists for some severe icing this weekend.
