Light At The End of The Tunnel

Who said showers and thunderstorms could put a damper on the weekend?  Yes, it is true that a cold front swings through today and has already left increasing clouds in Portland with showers already reaching Western Maine.  Showers and thunderstorms will be moving from West to East across Maine throughout the rest of the day but the heaviest rain will remain further to the north of the state.  Showers will continue on and off across Lewiston, Portland and most of Maine today.  Good news is that tonight skies will clear and temperatures will be cooler than we have seen in the past days.  Tonight will see lows in the mid to upper 50s.  Then tomorrow [Sunday] we will do it all over again with moments of sunshine and showers and thunderstorms continuing on and off throughout the day.  This time, though, even Southern Maine could see a few heavy showers as well.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel.  The weekend will not be an absolute COMPLETE washout and at least we have Monday and Tuesday to look forward to.  High pressure will slowly settle in from the Great Lakes region dragging in drier and cooler air for the start of the work week - with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid 70s.  Couldn't have asked for a better start to the work week!
