A cold front is going to work its way through our region tonight with an area of low pressure forming on it. Out ahead of the front warmer air will move in on southerly winds causing the precipitation to fall as mostly rain in southern Maine and New Hampshire. The warm air will have a hard time reaching the mountains and foothills so these locations should see more snowfall with 4-6 inches likely at most ski resorts. The front will be north of us by Wednesday morning and with the wind shifting into the west drier air will lead to partial clearing in the south while snow showers continue in the mountains. This scenario is expected to hold through Thursday and then give way to a ridge of high pressure on Friday. The high should bring plenty of sunshine for the end of the work week but then give way to a warm front and some light snow on Saturday. Another storm will be moving off the east coast Saturday night and right now it appears that the system will track far enough south so as to have only a minor effect on our weather. Just remember that this could change.
