January definitely went out on a warm note with record setting temperatures across Maine and New Hampshire. Without exception the highs were hit early in the day with falling temperatures thereafter. Colder air will continue to pour into our region tonight as another cold front drops down from Canada. The front is expected to reach the Maine coast by Friday morning then slowly sink southward keeping plenty of clouds in the sky. Temperatures look to be about 25 to 30 degrees colder than they were on Thursday. I think we'll see a bit more sunshine on Saturday but it won't warm us up much as very cold air will be in place. The models are still pointing to an east coast storm on Sunday but they can't agree on a track. This is crucial since it will ultimately determine how much snowfall we can expect. Hopefully I'll have a better feel for this tomorrow. Once this next storm moves out another shot of cold air is likely for next week.
