More cold weather is on tap for Saturday and there could be a few snow showers as well. Warmer air will arrive on Sunday.

Bitterly cold air moved into northern New England on Friday and despite mostly sunny skies temperatures only topped out in the 20s making it feel more like January than the end of November. Saturday is looking cold as well with clouds taking over the sky and the chance for a few snow showers in the afternoon. Along the coast temperatures should climb a tad above freezing but over the interior I expect another day in the 20s. A ridge of high pressure is going to set up an onshore flow putting increasing amounts of moisture in the air. By Saturday night the atmosphere should be pretty saturated so some light snow along with some freezing rain or freezing drizzle is likely. Needless to say this will make for some slick driving conditions that could last into Sunday morning. A warm front is expected to move northward and push through our region on Sunday bringing much warmer air sending temperatures into the 40s. It appears that the warm weather plans to stick around for a few days and right now Monday and Tuesday are looking almost spring like. Colder temperatures will return on Wednesday.
