FAIRFIELD, Conn. (NEWS CENTER) - A season-low 13 point first-half proved to be insurmountable as the Maine women's basketball team lost in the quarter-finals of the Women's Basketball Invitational to Fairfield, 63-50.
The Black Bears shot just 22.2% (6-of-27) from the field in the open half missing all nine of their three-point attempts.
Senior guard Ashleigh Roberts capped her career with a season-high 24 points. Sophomore forward Liz Wood was the only other Black Bear in double figurs with 11. Leavitt alum Courtney Anderson provided the Black Bears only offense from the bench with six points.
It's the second time Maine lost to Fairfield this season. The Stags won their previous matchup 80-59 on December 9th.
The Black Bears finish the season with a record of 17-15.
