Falmouth repeats, Messalonskee boys win 1st state hockey title

LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - It took Falmouth an extra period and it took Messalonskee their third try to capture their respective state championships in boys hockey on Saturday. 

The Yachstmen defended their Class 'A' title with a 3-2 overtime win over St. Dominic Academy.  Jack Grade scored the goal with with 1:17 left in the first OT period. 

Meanwhile, after losing in the previous two Class 'B' finals to Greely, Messalonskee rolled to their first ever state championship.  The Eagles were tied 1-1 after the first period with Gorham, who were playing in their first ever state final, before scoring the final five goals of the game.  Messalonskee finished the season with a perfect record (21-0-0).
