TIVERTON, Rhode Island (WJAR) -- On a busy workday, we expect most things in life to be automatic, available, at our convenience. So this Ash Wednesday people in Tiverton, Rhode Island were getting what's being called "Convenient Christianity."
The Holy Trinity Episcopal Church offered an Ash Wednesday service you didn't have to get out of the car to attend.
They were called "ashes to go." On Main Road in Tiverton you could drive up, roll down your window and receive Lenten ashes from the pastor.
"That's what Jesus did, he didn't set up a building and say come on in, he went out to the villages, people and to everybody," says Father John Higginbotham.
