Car accident in Oxford causes traffic delays

OXFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A head on collision tMonday afternoon shut down part of Route 26 and caused some major traffic delays.

According to authorities, a vehicle hauler collided head on with a 2013 KIA Sedan near the intersection of Oxford St. and Route 26. The vehicle hauler driver, William Pinfold, is uninjured.

An unidentified male driver of the KIA was transported via LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center. His female passenger was sent to Stevens Memorial Hospital in Norway. There is no information to their conditions at this time.

Police recommend that Route 26 Northbound drivers take lower Main St. to South Paris, and Southbound drivers take Pottle Rd. They also say drivers should expect Route 26 to be closed near the intersection of Oxford St. at least through 8PM.
