MOUNT DESERT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A man from Orono has been seriously hurt after rangers say he fell 20 feet while climbing ice with two others at Acadia National Park.
Park officials say the accident happened Sunday afternoon, as the men were climbing near the entrance station of the park.
The man fell and landed on the granite rocks below.
Paramedics from the Bar Harbor Fire Department, Mount Desert Island Search and Rescue, and park rangers brought the man out of the woods. He's being treated for a serious back injury at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Rangers say he is an experienced climber. They also say his friends did the right thing by not moving him after he fell.
