OLD TOWN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- After six years of planning, a deal between Casella Waste Systems and the University of Maine is no more.

A proposed seven-mile methane gas pipeline between Juniper Landfill and the University would have brought the landfill straight to the campus, fueling the steam plant and helping to heat the campus.

The project was set to cost about $13 million, and one of the pre- conditions was that Casella Waste Systems would obtain those finances- a task they were not able to do.
