PORTLAND, Maine (AP) -- A man described by prosecutors as the getaway driver in three armed bank robberies in Maine and New Hampshire has pleaded guilty.

U.S. Attorney Thomas Delahanty II said the charges against 40-year-old Marvin Ansteth of Somersworth, N.H., arise from robberies at the Peoples United Bank in Exeter, N.H.; the Meredith Village Savings Bank in Alton, N.H.; and Kennebunk Savings in Eliot, Maine. All three bank robberies happened in October.

Authorities say Peoples United Bank was robbed of over $1,400; Meredith Village Savings Bank was robbed of over $9,700; and Kennebunk Savings was robbed of over $7,800.

Ansteth awaits sentencing.
