YARMOUTH (NEWS CENTER) - Leon Paquin's part-time job as a zamboni driver led him and his son to a full-time passion culminating with the two of them being caretakers of the ice at Frozen Fenway.
The elder Paquin, who maintains the rink at the University of New England in Biddeford, started as a weekend driver at the Biddeford Ice Arena back in 1995. His son Jason, the rink manager at North Yarmouth Academy, played hockey for Biddeford High School and learned the trade on the side when his father was promoted to the full-time position.
Both worked the opening weekend at the outdoor hockey event and both will back at it again this weekend, including the University of Maine's game against Boston University on Saturday at 3 p.m.
