SOMERSET COUNTY, Pennsylvania (WJAC) -- A Somerset County, Pennsylvania man is lucky to be alive after he was ejected from his car in a violent crash early Thursday morning and thrown into the side of a nearby house.

It happened around 2 a.m. Thursday in Jenner Township.

The homeowner said the sound was so loud it woke him up from his sleep.

"It sounded like a real loud bang, like thunder," John Emerick said.

At first, he thought someone was breaking in, but soon realized a violent crash ended up in his front yard.

"He definitely had an angel on his shoulder," Emerick said.

There was a hole left in the siding of his house.

The driver, Cody Jerin of Hooversville, was thrown out of his car nearly 40 feet and slammed off of the siding of the house.

His condition was not available Thursday night.
