LEWISTON, Maine (AP) - Authorities say a 12-year-old boy is responsible for intentionally setting the second major fire in Lewiston in less than a week.
Friday night's blaze burned several apartment buildings and left more than 100 people homeless. Police and fire officials said Saturday at a news conference that arson was ruled the cause of the fire and that a 12-year-old boy set it.
Another blaze erupted Monday in Lewiston and destroyed three buildings. Police say a different 12-year-old boy has been charged with setting that blaze. He hasn't been identified and is scheduled to make a court appearance Monday.
About 75 people were left homeless by Monday's fire, but no one was reported injured.
