SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The cast and crew of the high school musical is scrambling to fill seats after licensing restrictions prevented them from advertising.

The school originally planned to do Cinderella, but it was denied a license to perform that musical because it's playing on Broadway this year and there must be no competition, including this high school with an 800 seat theater. The directors decided to put on Thoroughly Modern Millie instead, but that license was denied as well because the show is coming to the Ogunquit Playhouse in June. As a compromise, the school was granted the license as long as they did not do any advance advertising. Actor Thomas Strout says the show isn't quite the same without a packed house.

"The people that go to the shows are important," Strout said. "And we need all that energy, we need all the energy we can get while we're on stage. That's what keeps us going while we're acting."

There are three more performances of Thoroughly Modern Millie on Friday April 5th and Saturday April 6th. You can find ticket information by clicking here.
