ALFRED, Maine (AP) - An attorney for the town of Kennebunk has turned over some personnel records to defense lawyers who intend to attack the integrity of the lead investigator in a prostitution scandal centered at a Zumba fitness studio in Kennebunk, Maine.
Lawyers for Mark Strong Sr. say he was targeted by police because he was looking into alleged unprofessional conduct by Kennebunk police officers.
They want to delve into the background of the lead investigator, including an extramarital affair that led to a reprimand. Attorneys for the town initially said the records had been purged but the police chief testified Friday that the records still exist.
Still pending is a motion to dismiss 13 counts accusing Strong of helping a dance instructor run a prostitution business. Testimony was resuming Friday.
