PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Today the Toys For Tots program got a boost with some help from the Amtrak Downeaster.

The train pulled into the Portland station around noontime today. Onboard were over 140 kids from the Wells Elementary School, each with a toy to donate.

The Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority paid for the train ride to get all of Santa's little helpers up the coast. For the school's administration, its more than just a free train ride.

Its about helping teach future generations about giving to those less fortunate. This is the schools third year participating in toy donation.
