David Schwartz is a curator at the Museum of the Moving Image and the country's leading authority on televised political campaign commercials. The Museum has an extensive archive of presidential campaign commercials from 1952 to the present.

Schwartz was in Maine to give the history of the TV ad in Presidential elections from the 1950s right on through the Super Pac-fueled environment of the 2012 election.

ELEGANT ENIGMAS AT PORTLAND PUBLIC LIBRARY
"Elegant Enigmas the Art of Edward Gorey" will be on display at the Portland Public Library from October 5th through December 29th. The exhibition will feature original illustrations, preparatory sketches,
unpublished drawings and ephemera by the internationally celebrated artist and author Edward Gorey. The exhibit is a collaboration between the Portland Public Library and Maine College of Art. Admission to the exhibit is free.
