Original airdate 10/28/11

Show number: 2011-18

The 259th Bill Green's Maine

Produced by Brett Whitmarsh

Primary shooter and editor was Josh Bradford

This week's blog: written by Bill Green:

The first segment tonight is about a couple of trick shooting experts who call themselves Team Zespy. Jerome Holt and Colin Micklin form a dynamic duo of shotgun shooters. They are picking up gigs and entertaining shooting fans around Maine. Their tricks include throwing five clay targets in the air and shooting them before they hit the ground, throwing two clays in the air, tossing shotguns to each other and shooting the targets as well as an assortment of tricks. A lot of people in Maine are good shooters. To them Jerome always says, "I hope you brought your shotgun today!" They're an amazing outfit to see. Team Zespy does keep a facebook page.

The interview this week is with Charlie Furbush. The 25-year old South Portland native reached the big leagues this year. It was a remarkable accomplishment for the big lefty who overcame health issues in high school to build a remarkable career. For more information on Charlie, we recommend you check out the Seattle Mariners' website.

Our final piece is at the Big E. This is the largest fair in New England. It's been running since the 1920's. The State of Maine owns a building there and uses it to show our state off to the 1.2 million folks who drop by over the fair's 17 day run. It's a beautiful building and a huge fair. Maine stands up rather well there. For more information on the Big E.
