NEWFIELD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police are blaming high speed on a crash that killed two men in Newfield Friday night.

State Police spokesperson Steve McCausland says Moses Gerry was driving too fast on Route 11 when he lost control on a curve and hit several trees. The vehicle actually hit so hard it split in half.

Gerry and his passenger, Jonathan Seaman, both died at the scene.

Both men were from the town of Limerick.

A blood alcohol test will be conducted on Gerry.
