WASHINGTON (AP) - Education Secretary Arne Duncan says school districts should consider delaying the first bell until later in the morning.

He says a later start to the school day could help teenagers get the most from their classroom time.

He told NPR that school districts will still be free to set their own start times -- but he's urging them to consider the research that suggests that kids who are well-rested are better students.
