(NEWS CENTER) -- When Noah Koch begins the fourth grade at Mount Merici Academy in Waterville this fall, he'll have quite a story to tell about what he did on his summer vacation.

Noah, who's 9, was one of more than 50 children invited to have lunch with First Lady Michelle Obama as part of a contest to develop healthy lunches.  Each student was the winner from his or her state.  They each came up with recipes for easy to make - and very healthy - lunches or snacks, as part of Mrs. Obama's push to get kids to eat better and exercise more.

Noah's winning entry was "Vegan Powerhouse Pesto Pasta" which is not only vegan, but gluten-free as well.

Noah and his mom, Hilary, were in the East Room of the White House with the other winners when the First Lady had another surprise for them.   President Obama walked in, talked a bit, and then met some of the kids, including Noah.
