(NEWS CENTER) -- TODAY.com and Parenting.com recently conducted a survey online with 26,000 moms and asked them some of their parenting secrets they may not even confess to their friends.

Rebecca Dube, TODAY.com Moms Editor, said some of these results were surprising while others were just a sign of moms trying to be perfect in every way. Moms were asked a series of 'would you rather' questions and here's what they had to say:

- 45% of moms would rather weigh 15 pounds less than add 15 points to their child's IQ.

- 42% of moms would prefer a 50% raise at work than spend 50% more time with their kids.

- 23% of moms would choose a different spouse to raise a family with.

- 1 in 5 moms medicate their child with Benadryl or Tylenol before a long car ride or flight.

Chief Medical Editor, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, says the statistic about moms medicating their child before a long trip is actually lower than what she expected.  Giving a child medicine before an extended car ride or flight is ok as long as it's the proper dosage and the child's pediatrician has been consulted. However, this should never be a parent's first option to calm down their kids.  The survey also showed that some parents give their children Benadryl or Tylenol on an average night.

"What's a little more troubling is that 1 in 12 who are doing it on a regular basis just to get some peace and quiet, and that speaks to kind of a deeper problem with not having the coping skills and not having a support network as a parent to reach out and get help," Rebecca Dube, TODAY.com Moms Editor, said.
