SACO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- FedEx is in the middle of its busiest week of the year.
The shipping company experienced its busiest day in history on Monday, processing 16 million packages. That's twelve percent more than that day last year.
The Portland area ground hub in Saco put more than thirty additional trucks on the road to handle extra deliveries. Courier James Estabrooks says even with the extra help, he's feeling the holiday pressure.
"On average I do handle about four hundred packages a day," Estabrooks said. "Monday I was right around seven hundred, just shy. It's tough out there. You have to cram it all in within a short period of time."
FedEx won't slow down right away after the holidays. January is a busy month as well, with gift returns and even tax documents to deliver.
