Skier search and rescue photos

CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine -- At a press conference this morning, Maine Game Wardens announced that 17-year-old Nicholas Joy, who had been missing since Sunday afternoon, had been found alive by a snowmobiler on the Caribou Pond Road. Joy was walking under his own power, and was taken to a waiting ambulance where he was checked out by EMTs before being transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington for further evaluation. Nearly 100 searchers were on hand today as teams combed through areas on the mountain, both in-bounds and out-of-bounds. Searchers included members of the Maine Warden Service, US Forest Service, Border Patrol, Carrabassett Valley Fire Department, Carrabassett Valley Academy, several search-and-rescue organizations, numerous volunteers, and dozens of Sugarloaf Mountain staff members.
