GARLAND COUNTY, Arkansas (KARK) A California jail escapee is back behind bars after more than 36 years on the run.

Michael Ray Morrow, 69, who authorities say had been living in Jessieville, Arkansas under an assumed name, is being held in the Garland County Detention Center.

Morrow escaped from the California Institution for Men in Butte County in August 1977, where he was serving sentence of five years to life on a robbery conviction in Los Angeles County.

Morrow was found after federal agents developed information that he was living in Arkansas and a possible location of his residence.

He was arrested without incident and reportedly gave details of his escape from prison. Officials say Morrow had been living under the alias of "Carl Frank Wilson."
