SARASOTA, Florida (SNN6) -- The craft brewing market in Florida is growing with more brands ready to quench thirst for local beer.
"A lot of trends kind of start west and head this way and craft beer microbrew market out in Colorado, Oregon, California or Washington has always been huge and it's now kind of getting this way," said Seth Murauskas of the Big Top Brewing Company.
At Darwin's on 4th in Sarasota, Brewmaster Jorge Rosabal says the company is getting ready to expand to a facility in nearby Bradenton.
"We're planning to open a commercial brewery. We're going to be canning, kegging beer there for the customers. We're also going to have a tasting room," Rosabal said.
"Here, I think in the greater Tampa area, what you're starting to see is your critical mass of breweries, of fine craft breweries, and that's something we're starting to see more and more right here at the restaurant," Matt Cornelius of Darwin Brewing Company said.
Brewer proprietor Michael Wagner, meanwhile, is getting ready to increase output at the Little Giant Brewery in Bradenton.
He says more local brewing companies is good for business.
"I always there's many rooms in the mansion in our world, in our world of brewing. There's plenty of places to start in the United States. It's one of the best. As long as you make good beer, make people happy, you're going to be successful," said Wagner.
The Brewers Association reports the craft brewing industry rose 15 percent in 20-12 and Florida companies are competing for their share.
"There's definitely a growing demand. I think it's always kind of been here, it's just more readily available and people are actually getting to enjoy it now," said Murauskas.
