HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Florida (WFLA) - On patrol in the sky and on the ground, a team of nine deputies from Florida's Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office use new technology to look for missing people.
These deputies are considered some of the best in the country at using LoJack's SafetyNet system devices. In a recent case an elderly man went missing in the northern section of Hillsborough and in minutes deputies had pin-pointed his exact location.
"We arrived on the scene in 10 minutes and seven minutes later ground crews were on the scene so it saves lives," said Sgt. Jeff Massaro about the system.
The Hillsborough County Search and Rescue team is considered one of the most proficient in the country when it comes to using this high tech equipment. It is designed to locate people who suffer from cognitive disorders such as autism and Alzheimer's.
