(NBC) -- In battleground Ohio, President Obama insists Mitt Romney's tax cut will add five trillion dollars to the deficit. "If it's true that it's not gonna add to the deficit, that leaves only one option -- and that's asking middle-class families to foot the bill," said the President.

"The President's charge of a five-trillion dollar tax cut is obviously inaccurate and wrong," insists Mitt Romney, (R) Presidential Nominee.

Romney, also in Ohio, mocked the Obama campaign's latest ad which mocks his plan to cut funding for PBS. "He's focused on saving Big Bird is kind of a strange thing in my view because you see, I'm focused on helping the American people get good jobs," said Mitt Romney, (R) Presidential Nominee.

Sesame Street has asked the Obama Campaign to pull the Big Bird ad.

Yet there are weightier questions here, as Congress looks into whether the U.S. was warned of the deadly Libya attack. "Twice in the six-month lead-up you had bombings at our compound there in Benghazi and it's 9/11 in Libya. What other warnings do you need?" wondered Rep. Jason Chaffetz, (R) Utah.

Warnings of trouble now for President Obama -- Romney is closing the gap.

The latest polls: Reuters has them tied. Gallup has Romney up by two. Pew Research has him up by four.
