To say that the Red Sox won with pitching would be an understatement.  In fact, no other championship team has ever scored fewer runs in a World Series.

In addition, not a single home run was hit in the entire series, which has only happened two other times. That is even more amazing considering that Babe Ruth was in the lineup.  Although at the time, he was primarily a pitcher.

Ruth won two games for the Sox in the series.  And as number six in the batting order in Game  4, he remains the only starting pitcher ever to hit higher than ninth in a World Series.
