Chaplin was born on Apr. 16, 1889.
At the time he was making "Limelight," he thought it would be his final movie. As a fitting send off, he wanted to perform a scene alongside Keaton as partners in an old-time Vaudeville show.
At first, Chaplin wasn't sure Keaton would accept such a small role. But when he learned that his former rival was short of cash and struggling to get by, Chaplin insisted that no one else could play the part.
