What river runs through the Grand Canyon?

Pres. Teddy Roosevelt declared the Grand Canyon a national monument on Jan. 11, 1908.

It took the Colorado River about five or six million years to carve the Canyon out of the Arizona landscape.  The Canyon is 277 miles long, as much as 18 miles wide and at its deepest point, it plunges down for more than mile.
