Agnew was born on Nov. 9, 1918. He resigned from office upon being accused of tax evasion.
The circumstances were quite different for Calhoun. He served under Andrew Jackson at a time when the President and Vice President were elected separately. It eventually became clear that the two of them differed so greatly in their political beliefs, it would be impossible for them to work together.
After resigning from the administration, Calhoun was elected to the U.S. Senate from South Carolina and led the opposition against his former boss.
