BELFAST, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A boatyard in Belfast is planning a major move into the world of luxury yachts.

The Front Street Shipyard has already become a success story. Just over three years since it started, the yard has more than 100 workers and says it has a steady flow of boats of all size for refits and repairs.

Now, the company is ready to launch a new line of what it calls "super yachts."

Pictures of the design's are being shown at this weekend's Boatbuilders Show in Portland. These brand new motor yachts range in size from around 90 feet to more than 120 feet long.

Front Street President J.B. Turner says they are already working on adding more space to build the yachts, and they will need to hire more workers once the orders start to come in.

Turner says the super yacht market is global, and they will face competition from yacht builders in the U.S., New Zealand, Europe, and even China. But he is confident there will be people who want to buy the boats.

Front Street showed the designs to Euopeans last week at a boat show in Austria, and they will show them next week at the boat show in Palm Springs, Florida.

If they can get some orders for those yachts, Turner says it will mean at least 40 new jobs.
