PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The 11th Annual Portland Boat Show over the weekend showed better consumer confidence.
Fifteen dealers and more than 100 boats were on display from Thursday to Sunday. About 2,200 people went to see boats, which was around 100 more than last year.
Dealers said they saw a positive consumer confidence as more first-time buyers made purchases.
"They were having trouble getting financing, which seems to be improving," said a White's Marina boat dealer.
A market trend this season is the purchase of the pontoon boat, known for its space and versatility.
"This show has been overwhelming for us...I think it's over 15 boats so far in the 3 days we've been here," said Joe Brueng of Moose Landing Marina.
Organizers said they're looking to expand the Portland Boat Show next year.
