PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Red Claws coach Mike Taylor has referred to his point guard Abdul Gaddy as a playmaker. On Sunday, Gaddy lived up to that description with a team-high 23 points and triple-double in Maine's 113-104 win over Austin.
Gaddy also dished out 11 assists and grabbed ten rebounds for just the fourth triple-double in franchise history. The rookie out of Washington shared the scoring lead with Chris Wright. Frank Gaines was right behind them with 22 points.
The Red Claws looked as though they'd run away with the matinee with a 21-point first-half lead, but after their shots stopped dropping and the Toros found their touch with was a back-and-forth for the duration.
An 8-0 run midway through the fourth quarter broke an 88 all tie and allowed the Red Claws to lead by three possessions for the final six minutes of the game.
Maine (16-21) stands 11th in the NBA D-League standings five games out of the eighth and final playoff spot with 13 games remaining.
They'll host Fort Wayne on Thursday with a tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.
