PORTLAND, Maine (AP) -- Police in the Maine city of Portland say a check of 56 bars, stores and restaurants resulted in eight being cited for selling alcohol to a minor.
The compliance check was done on Friday evening. Police say several underage college students volunteered to help.
Police were checking to see if liquor license establishments required identification from young looking people seeking to buy alcohol.
Four teams of officers and volunteers checked 56 establishments selected at random throughout the city.
