WOOLWICH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A man died in a three car accident Tuesday evening on U.S. Rt. 1. Walter Crosman, 45, of Wiscasset was driving north in a Jeep on Rt. 1, according to witnesses. The Jeep tried to pass the other northbound car, but hit that vehicle. The Jeep swerved into the south bound lane, where a Subaru wagon hit the Jeep. Medical officers pronounced Crosman dead at the scene.
Seventeen year-old Emma Leonard of Boothbay was driving the Subaru. Bath Rescue transported her to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The vehicle Crosman attempted to pass was a Toyota sedan. The accident did not injure the driver, Jennifer Blackwell, 25, of Brunsick.
The Sagadahoc County Sheriff said deputies are unsure why Mr. Crosman tried to pass another vehicle. The accident remains under investigation.
