Man and toddler unharmed after train hits truck

WEST BATH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A man from West Bath and a 2-year-old toddler were not injured after the truck they were in was struck by a train.

The accident happened on the Sanford Crossing Road in West Bath around 10:00am this morning.

The Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Department says Daniel Wallace was returning from checking his mail when he pulled into the path of the train. The truck was totalled but Wallace and the toddler were unharmed.

The train which is owned by Maine Eastern Railroad sustained about two thousand dollars worth of damage.

Wallace has been summonsed for failure to obey a railroad warning device.
