Trooper Jessica Shorey has been treated and released from Maine Medical Center for neck and back pain. She was seated in her cruiser when it was struck by another car which lost control on the slippery road.
There was a layer of light snow and black ice in that area at the time. The Trooper was parked in the southbound breakdown lane at the site of two other cars, that had earlier slid off the road. One southbound lane of the Interstate remained open, but traffic was backed up into Falmouth.
A number of other accidents were reported this morning on interstate 95, and speeds on the Maine Turnpike have been reduced to 45 mph from Kittery to Gray.
