BIDDEFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Biddeford's City Manager has confirmed that Kohl's Department Store in the Gateway Plaza will be torn down and rebuilt.
The store opened in 2007 and was built in 2003. A short time later it was determined that the building was slowly sinking.
The company did a study and has determined the best option is to tear the building down and rebuild a smaller version of it near where the current store is located.
The store will shut down in February. Kohl's has already applied for a new permit to build the new store. The company hopes to reopen later this year.
