KENNEBUNK, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- At approximately 10:30am this morning a five-car accident occurred on York Street in Kennebunk in the area of Dairy Queen.

Dana L. Scarborough, 83, of Wells had been operating his 1994 Ford F150 pickup truck northbound when, it is believed, he experienced some type of medical issue. Scarborough struck the vehicle directly in front of him, which then caused a chain reaction of events to occur. In all, Scarborough's pickup truck, three other motor vehicles in motion, and one parked motor vehicle were subsequently involved in the crash.

Scarborough, the sole operator of a second vehicle, and the operator and passenger of a third motor vehicle were all transported via ambulances to area hospitals for evaluation with non life threatening injuries. Three vehicles determined to be non-operational were towed from the crash scene.

At this time, the names of other motor vehicle operators and passengers are not being released pending family notifications.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by police.
