NEW VINEYARD, Maine (AP) - Police say a 38-year-old preschool teacher from Kingfield has been killed in a head-on collision in New Vineyard.

Authorities say Samantha Wright was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2 p.m. Monday crash on Route 27.

Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols says Wright's northbound minivan was hit by a southbound commercial van that crossed the center line.

Witnesses told police that the other vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Crag Gage of Saco, drifted onto the icy right shoulder of the road and then overcorrected. Gage was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life threatening.

The Morning Sentinel reports that Wright was the executive director and head teacher at Maine Mountain Children's House, a nonprofit Montessori preschool program.

The crash remains under investigation.
