New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - D.C. United continued its offseason makeover on Wednesday, selecting forward Fabian Espindola in the second stage of Major League Soccer's Re-Entry draft.

United finished with just three wins last season -- the fewest in league history -- but immediately began reshaping the roster ahead of 2014, declining contract options on several players.

The club pulled off a trade for former Montreal Impact captain Davy Arnaud as well as landing defenders Bobby Boswell and Sean Franklin in addition to signing U.S. international Eddie Johnson on Tuesday.

Espindola spent last season with Red Bull New York, where he started 23 matches and scored nine goals, helping Mike Petke's club win the Supporters' Shield.

United will now have a week to extend a contract offer to Espindola.

United also used their second-round selection to nab former San Jose Earthquakes defender Nana Attakora, who thrived with Toronto FC in 2009-10 but has struggled to find playing time ever since. He appeared in just eight games with Earthquakes last season.

Toronto FC also made a big splash on Wednesday when they claimed former league MVP Dwayne De Rosario, the Canadian international who had his contract option declined by United following the season.

De Rosario, 36, spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons in Toronto before a falling out sent him to New York and eventually United, where he won the MLS MVP in 2011.

The full list of selected players is as follows:

D.C. United - Fabian Espindola, Nana Attakora.

Toronto FC - Dwayne De Rosario.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC - Mehdi Ballouchy.

San Jose Earthquakes - Shaun Francis, Brandon Barklage.

Seattle Sounders FC - Chad Barrett, Corey Hertzog.
