AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - With summer vacations over and people back into routines, operators of food pantries are hoping attention will turn to those who don't have enough to eat.

Inside the Good Shepherd warehouse in Auburn volunteers and workers were wearing Orange Today to help kick off Hunger Action Month. It is a campaign to raise awareness about the 50 million Americans who are hungry.

The goal of Hunger Action Month is to get those people who are concerned about the problem to finally get up and act.

"The best news is hunger is a solvable problem, but we need everyone to do their part and this month is all about getting people involved to fight hunger", said Good Shepherd President Kristen Miale.

Good Shepherd serves about 100,000 Mainers in need each year. For more information about Hunger Action Month and events associated with it visit the Good Shepherd Food Banks website.
