WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS CENTER) - Red Sox all-star Clay Buchholz made his first professional appearance in two-and-a-half months on Sunday and it showed as he lasted just two-thirds of an inning in a rehab appearance for the Class A Lowell Spinners.

Buchholz allowed three runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks with a strikeout.  Of his 38 pitches thrown 19 were for strikes.  The 29-year old was given a pre-game pitch limit between 45 and 50.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said earlier in the day that Buccholz would more than likely start this Friday as well, either with the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field or with Triple A Pawtucket, who also has a home series that weekend.
