BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The community in Boothbay Harbor is providing something special for all families who have elementary school students in the Boothbay region district.

Sunday's event, called "Set for Success," will provide some 500 students with a free back pack filled with all the teacher-mandated school supplies for the coming school year.

And beyond that, dozens of stylists in the area have volunteered their time to give students free hair cuts. And others in the salon will offer moms some help with their nails.

Representatives from the Alfond Foundation and NextGen will be signing up babies for free $500 scholarships.

There will be free meals and options for free clothing for kids and moms looking to get back to work.

The event runs from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday at the Boothbay Region YMCA.
