Wednesday was pretty much a carbon copy of Tuesday with low clouds dominating the sky and temperatures well below normal. South of New England it was a different story as temperatures climbed into the 70s and 80s under partly sunny skies. The front separating the two air masses is expected to move through our region on Thursday so after a cool and dreary start we stand a pretty good chance of seeing some hazy sunshine. Southerly winds off the ocean will keep temperatures in the 60s along the Maine coast with mid 70s toward New Hampshire. Showers and thunderstorms should break out again in the late afternoon and continue into Thursday night as a cold front moves our way. This front is expected to reach the east coast by Friday morning and then stall with an area of low pressure forming on it near New Jersey. The low is going to take its sweet time moving northward and this promises to keep showers in our forecast for much of the upcoming weekend. In addition the low will pull some rather chilly down from Canada dropping temperatures each day. By Sunday temperatures probably won't get above 50 degrees. Right now the models are drying us out Sunday night so there is hope for Monday.
