Ways you can help the Lewiston fire victims

(NEWS CENTER) - Lewiston Mayor Robert Macdonald is encouraging individuals interested in sending a financial donation to mail it to one of the following addresses:

Outreach and in-kind donations:

Catholic Charities Maine (207) 523-2728 - Accepting In-kind donations.

The Root Cellar, Lewiston (207) 782-3659 www.therootcellar.org - Various types of outreach being undertaken for fire victims.

Lewiston Relief Fund www.volunteermaine.org/disaster - Donated funds will be facilitated by the United Way of Androscoggin County, and they will distribute to those in need.

Housing Fair - The Maine State Housing Authority is working with landlords, DHHS, and City officials to present a Housing Fair on Wednesday, May 8th, from 1 - 5 p.m. at the DHHS Lewiston Office, 200 Main Street. This is an effort to help individuals with short & long-term housing.

City of Lewiston Solid Waste Punch Pass - Property owners and tenants within the "Public Priority Response Area" (click here to see area outlined) may obtain a special punch pass at the Lewiston Finance Department, City Hall, 27 Pine Street. The pass will waive tipping fees for materials disposed of at the Solid Waste Facility (424 River Road). This program will end on June 8, 2013. This is especially a good opportunity to rid locations of items that could render a potential fire hazard.

YWCA Yard Sale: The YWCA will be holding a benefit yard sale Friday May 10th from 8am to 12pm. All money will go to the fire victims and anything left over will be brought to the Salvation Army.

Benefit concert in Auburn on Saturday night at the First Universalist Church, 169 Pleasant St. in Auburn. Concert is at 7pm.
Here are more details: This Saturday night is the 9th Annual Remembering Tom Rowe concert in Auburn to benefit the Jack McPhillips Memorial Fund. Artists to include Schooner Fare, Dave Rowe Trio, The Squid Jiggers, Don Campbell, Danny Quinn, Side by Side, and emcee the humble Farmer. The Jack McPhillips Memorial Fund has decided all proceeds from this concert will go to help the victims of the fires in Lewiston.

Lil' Sweet Peas Consigment Boutique in Rockland is collecting donations for fire victims. Accepting anything that can help a family rebuild their home. Owners are Laurie Campbell and Josh Boyer. Items can be dropped off at their trailer set up at their shop on 150 Union St. in Rockland.
